Abstract


Thispaperisasimulation studyofmodulationstrategiesinthree-phaseflyingcapacitorinvertersinMATLABsimulink.Theflyingcapacitormultilevelconverterisarecentlydevelopedconvertertopologyassuringaflexiblecontrolandmodulardesign.However,theflyingcapacitormultilevelconverterrequiresabalancedDCvoltagedistribution. This canberealizedbyusingaspecialcontrolleadingtonaturalbalancingorbymeasuringthevoltagesandselectingtheappropriateswitchingstate..Underinvestigationthosestrategiesthatsolvethecapacitorvoltagebalancingproblem,Carrierbasedphase-shiftPWMmethodwithAPOD,IPD,PODarepresentedandcorrespondingvoltageharmonicdistortionvaluesareanalyzed3levelfivelevelFlyingcapacitormultilevelinverters.AgeneralmathematicalmodelforanN-levelinverterisusedforcircuitoperationanalysisandAreviewpowersystemapplicationsofflyingcapacitormultilevelinvertersarepresented.
