A Study Of Factors That Led To The Agrarian Unrest In The Tamil Country During Vijayanagar Rule
Abstract
In the medieval Tamil country, the taxing system on cultivated lands was somehow complicated due to the prevalence of different kinds of land tenures, varied tax structures on different lands, numerous grants to various sections of society with varying immunity, introduction of frequent fresh levies and so on. Besides the land dues, a number of taxes was collected which was not uniform over the whole country or through the whole period.
