English Historian Of Sikh Religion: Max Arthur Macauliffe

Abstract

Max Arthur Macauliffe was born on 10 September, 1841[1] at Newcastle West, Limerick, Ireland. He completed his primary education in Newcastle School, Limerick. He went to Spring Field College for his further studies and he completed his graduation from Queen’s college, Galway in 1862. He studied Greek and Latin classic in the original. He also read French and Italian[2]. In this way he received a broad humanistic education. In the same year he was selected for civil services in Punjab, India[3].
