The Design of Viterbi Decoder with Higher Efficiency
Abstract
A Viterbi Decoder (VD) is an elegant and efficient method to decode convolutional codes, this decoding method avoids explicitly enumerating the 2N possible combinations of N-bit parity bit sequences. This method was invented by Andrew Viterbi ’57 and bears his name. Convolutional codes are commonly used to encode digital data before transmission.
