India has about 70 thermal power plants and The quantity of waste glass has slowly increased over the years due to the growing need and usage of glass products, this gives way for large quantity of glass waste. At the same time today’s annual global cement production has reached 2.8 billion tons, and is expected to increase to some 4 billion tons per year. The amount of waste glass is gradually increased over the recent years due to an ever-growing use of glass products. Most waste glasses have been dumped into produces an estimated 100 million tonnes of waste glass per annum. Such a huge amount of waste glass poses a variety of problems such as soil contamination, groundwater contamination and environment pollution.
