Abstract


India is a multi-religious country. It has embraced different religions and was known for its tolerance and mutual respect. As written by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru in his most inspiring book. The Discovery of India,that "it was fascinating to find how the Bengalis, the Canarese, the Malayalis, theSindhis,the Punjabis, the Pathans,the Kashmiris, the Rajputs, and the great central block comparising of Hindustan-speaking people, had retained their particular characteristics for hundreds of years,with more or less the same virtues and failings, and yet they had been throughout these ages distinctively Indian, with the same national heritage and the same set of moral and mental qualities
