An Overview of Maximum Power Point Tracking Methods under Partial Shading Condition of Photovoltaic System

Shailendra Suthar, Durgesh Vishwakarma

Abstract

Utilization of renewable energy is a prime requisite for increasing energy demand of today’s world.  Solar energy is a paramount renewable energy source to gratify ever increasing energy demand. Photovoltaic (PV) system converts the solar energy into electricity. Efficiency of PV system is a focal concern for maximum utilization of solar energy and nonlinear characteristics of PV system is a major snag for it. Maximum power point tracing (MPPT) algorithms track the maximum power point (MPP) on nonlinear characteristics to transfer maximum power to the load. Non uniform irradiance on PV panels of PV array is termed as a partial shading condition.
