Abstract

Pultrusion is a continuous process for manufacture of composite materials with constant cross-section. Reinforced fibers are pulled through a resin, possibly followed by a separate performing system, and into a heated die, where the resin undergoes polymerization. Many resin types may be used in Pultrusion including polyester, polyurethane, vinyl ester and epoxy.  This project deals with production of composite rods of both glass fiber with epoxy and carbon fiber with epoxy by using Pultrusion technique. The composition of composite rod contains of 85% fiber loading and 15% of matrix. This project also extends for modeling and analysis of composite rods. 3d model of composite rods is generated by using Unigraphics software. Analysis can be done by using ANSYS software. Composite rods are analyzed for different materials (i.e. Glass/Epoxy and Carbon/Epoxy materials.) Results from Analysis are compared for better material.
