HbF Levels in HbE/β-Thalassaemia among Inhabitants of Assam, is Associated with XmnI Polymorphism

Abstract

The level of HbF in HbE/ß-thalassaemia was reported to be ranged from 5-87% but the cut off point for HbE/ß-thalassaemia was not well defined.Significant co-relation between XmnI and HbF has been found by many workers in various countries around the world. This co-relation between XmnI polymorphism and HbF has not been documented previously from Assam, India.
