21st Century Skills Among English Language Teachers In Kerala

Abstract


The present study examined the level of 21st century skills among the English language teachers in Kerala. For this purpose the Four Communication Skills Scale (4CS) constructed and validated by the investigator was used for data collection. The sample consists of 500 in service English language teachers from different colleges in Northern Kerala, India by adopting stratified random sampling technique. The collected data was subjected to descriptive analysis and percentage counts.  The findings of the study revealed that 44% of English language teachers are having average level of 21st Century skills and it components namely critical thinking, collaborative, communicating and creative thinking skills. From the mean value it is also inferred that English teachers are having relatively high level of collaborative skills followed by communication, critical thinking and creative skills.
