Relationship of Authentic Leadership, Internal Locus of Control and Burnout among Public and Private Sector Bank Employees of Rawalpindi and Islamabad

Abstract


In public and private banking sector, an authentic leadership (AL) plays a vital role in decreasing the burnout rate among employees. Internal locus of control (ILOC) can decrease the likelihood of burnout (BO). This study aimed to explore the relationship among authentic leadership, internal locus of control and burnout among bank employees.A cross-sectional survey was conducted upon bank employees of Islamabad and Rawalpindi with prior ethical approval from Quaid-e-Azam University. 300 bank employees; with the age range of 25-60 were selected from both public and private sector banks. Authentic leadership Questionnaire, Maslach Burnout Inventory, and Work Locus of Control Scale were used for data collection.The findings of study indicated that ILOC was negatively related to BO. Positive relationship between ILOC and AL was proved by the findings of the study. Job experience accounted for 2% of the variance in BO.
