Mythic Dimension and Modern Consciousness in Girish Karnad’s Yayati

Abstract


He takes only small and complicated segments of myths and completes it with the help of his imagination. Yayati is Karnad’s first plays based on the theme of responsibility. The plot of the play has been taken from the “Adiparva” of the Mahabharata. The present paper endeavors to present a comprehensive study on the mythic dimension and modern consciousness.
