Abstract

This paper describes the design of solar charge controller with micro controller based soft switching buck converter. Based on the concept of optimizing the efficiency of the automated solar system in residential buildings application this paper proposed in high efficiency solar cut off charge controller as an alternative to the main solar charge controller in most conventional building solar system, the idea is to be designed as an electronic circuit with low losses as compared with the conventional charge controller to be a part of the integrated and automated building solar system. We used micro controller and assembly programming to maintain switching sequence as well as the whole charging system. Combining the renewable energy generation with energy storage bank & ac power from substation will enable the power generated from a renewable energy sources to be more reliable, affordable and used more efficiently.
A Simulink Matlab simulator is attempted in the simulation phase of this research. Matlab Simulaink tools have been used for performance evaluation on energy point. Simulation will consider different solar irradiance and temperature variation.
Keywords –photovoltaic; battery charge controller; continuous supply; microcontroller; renewable energy.
