Abstract

Concrete is majorly used material in today’s world. Cement is the main ingredient in concrete. The growth of the cement needs more production of cement. Our country produced 280 million tonnes of cement last year. However there are many disadvantages too in production of cement. Raw materials used in the cement are lime stone and clay. More production requires much consumption of natural resources. Continuous usage of natural resources causes natural imbalances. Fuel is burnt during clinkering stage. This results in production of carbon dioxide. One tonne of carbon dioxide is produced for one tonne manufacture of cement. Blending of cement shows considerable overcome of the above disadvantages. In this process considerable amount of cement is replaced by other materials, this will be helpful in producing more cement with less raw materials. The pollution can also be reduced.
