Abstract

Nowadays the power system structure is complicated and the demand is increasing rapidly. In order to minimize the power losses and to reduce power shortage, we go for renewable resources. In This paper, we concentrate on the solar energy, the solar power generation by PhotoVoltaic (PV) arraycombinedwiththeactivepowerfilter(APF)has been proposed. In this paper the model is consists ofa PV power plant, a DC–DC boost converter, and an active power filter. A novel control approach for the DC–DC converter has been developed in order to extract the maximum power from PV arrays. Also, a novel control approach is based on generalized instantaneous reactive power theory, has been proposed for the active power filter. The simulation results are based on MATLAB/SIMULINK model, the proposed system can provide the power factor correction, harmonic elimination, load  balancing, and reactive power compensation andsimultaneously inject the maximum power available from the PV array into thegrid.
