A STATCOM- Artificial Intelligence Based Controller for Voltage Regulation

Abstract


STATCOM a simple static var compensator can provide fast and efficient reactive power control to maintain better voltage regulation. In the literature, various STATCOM controllers have been discussed including PI applications but here an artificial intelligence based fuzzy controller for optimum performance and applicability, which concerns the power quality measurements are-the active power, reactive power, variation of voltage, flicker, and harmonics. Here the topology occupies two-standard two-level inverters and the DC-link voltages are regulated at different levels to obtain four-level operation. The scheme ensures regulation of dc-link voltages of inverters at asymmetrical levels and reactive power compensation. The system behaviour is analysed for different operation conditions and validates in Matlab Simulation.
