Abstract


Public transport system provision is viewed as an important component of the overall transportation planning and management process. Rapid Transit System thus plays a key role in the scenario of public transport considering viability particularly in urban areas. This paper deals with the trends in the provision and usage of Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS), its policy goals and strategic approaches, supported by a case study of Delhi Metro.
