Abstract

In new advanced cellular technologies, more than one component carrier (CC) is utilized in a base station. As the development of the cellular technologies (such as LTE-Advanced) progress, use of multi CCs may not be necessary at light traffic loads, from the point of view of green communication. In this paper, numerous mechanisms propose by researchers on rate and energy controlled transmission are studied to compensate the problem of energy minimization at base stations by considering certain quality of service and fairness requirements for all users. Orthogonal frequency division multiple access multiple CCs in downlink transmissions of base station is considered for the communication activities.
