Abstract

People’s participation can be effective and meaningful only when they are allowed access to information about the govt’s day-to-day activities affecting the important aspects of public life. This makes democracy an important form of government because it believes in open govt. in which nothing shall be hidden from the people unless there are compelling reason to do so. People have a right to know the type of work that is being undertaken by public bodies. Also how much money is being spent by them on what. This is called the Right to Information.
