A Study On Wicking Behavior Of Pima Cotton For Kids Wear Knitted Fabric

As the textile field is faced with increasing competition, innovation and specialization have been employed by much machinery and product manufactures to create a niche in the market place. In an effort to complete and appeal to the end use market, product that go beyond the current range of performance and the style have been developed. This project will focus on the development of such specialization production through the use of the wicking behavior of pima cotton and its properties. Basic knitting concept will first be introduced followed by the review of the literature on the history, technologies, advantages, disadvantages and the potential end use of this knitted fabric. In recent times, there has been increase in participation of pima cotton fabric all over the world. The highly competitive world of the kids wear has given rise to more number of the children. It is not possible to achieve all required properties for kids wear. The right type of fabric should be in the right place. The most important properties are fabric type, weave construction, weight and thickness of the material and the presence of chemical treatments. For every kids wear cotton (Pima) are preferred because of the smooth texture of the fabric and it helps to observe the sweat. Mostly all the natural fiber have the absorbing property. They can have either hydrophilic (wetting) surface or hydrophobic (non-wetting) surface. They are generally considered to be the best choice for the kids wear it can able to provide a good combination of moisture management, softness, lightweight insulation and quick drying. It is generally agreed the fabrics with moisture wicking properties can regulate the body temperature, improve muscle performance and delay exhaust.
