To measure the extent of crop diversification, Herfindhal Index has been used. The study has revealed that most of the blocks in Leh districts are experiencing a lateral movement towards crop diversification. An analysis of temporal changes in cropping pattern in Leh district has indicated that the area under fruits and vegetables has witnessed significant increase over the period by varying degree. In the end, it has suggested some developmental strategies for fostering the process of crop diversification.
