Abstract


The advancements in the Information and Communications Technologies (ICTs) provide several opportunities and are viewed by people from all over the world. Applications of ICT are applied to several fields that include agriculture and rural development as well. In recent years the mobile mediated technology is much talked because of the greater penetration of the mobile phones especially even in the rural areas. According to a news report: “Only 46.9 per cent of the total 246.6 million households have toilet facilities. Of the rest, 3.2 per cent use public toilets. And 49.8 per cent ease themselves in the open. In stark contrast, 63.2 per cent of the households own a telephone connection — 53.2 per cent of mobile phones” (http://www.thehindu.com/news/national/half-of-indias-homes-have-cellphones-but-not-toilets/article2992061.ece).
