Effect of Independent Factors on Lifestyles among Youth Studying In Government and Private Institution

Abstract


Youth is the time of life when one is young, and often means the time between childhood and adulthood (maturity). Living conditions and Lifestyles must also be taken into account as being highly affected by other spheres of life. The lifestyle scale developed by S.K. Bawa and Sumanpreet Kaur was administered to the students. A sample of 200 college students of the age group of15-24 years from urban Bangalore was randomly selected for the present study. Wherein 100 students were from Government College and 100 students were from Private College. The tests used to analyze the data were student t-test and chi-square test. The finding showed that respondents from Government College and Private College have a moderate lifestyle. In Government institutions youth were more conscious about trends and Private institution were found to be career oriented. The results also indicate that male have higher mean score percentage in the dimension of socially oriented and were found to enjoy every social gathering. And female were found to be family oriented and maintain family values and spend money keeping in view of family status.
