Comparison between SOAP and REST Web Service

Abstract


A web service is a software package that is used for communicating information between devices lying on the network. Computers use them to communicate with each other over the internet. The usage of Web services has recently increased. Therefore, it is important to select right type of Web services at then project design stage.Two types of Web Service Technologies are Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP) and Representational State Transfer (REST). These Services have its own advantages and disadvantages. In this paper describes the difference and the best practices when to use one over the other.
