Formulation and Evaluation of Gastroretentive Floating Tablets of Cefadroxil by Using Natural Polymers

Abstract


The floating tablets of Cefadroxil were prepared to increase the gastric retention and to improve the bioavailability of the drug. The floating tablets were formulated using Xanthan gum, Guar gum and its combination as the release retardant polymers. Sodium bicarbonate and citric acid as the gas generating agent to reduce the floating lag time. The tablets were prepared by direct compression.
