Finite Element Analysis of Seepage through an Earthen Dam by using Geo-Slope (SEEP/W) software

Imran Arshad, Muhammed Muneer Babar

Abstract

In this research work, finite element approach is employed to solve the governing differential equations pertaining to seepage through body of dam its foundation. For this purpose, the foremost focal point is discretization of domain into finite elements by placement of imaginary nodal points and discretization of governing equations into a system of equations; an equation for each nodal point or element and solving it for the unknown variables.
