Various Statistical Software and Tools Used For Research-A Study with Special Reference to the Practice of Research Scholars

Abstract

As quantitative research progressing immensely, application of statistical software becomes a more vital part of data analysis. Researchers are experiencing a shift from manual analysis with paper to more efficient digital/electronic analysis with statistical software. This study is made an attempt to understand the various statistical software and tools that have been use by the research scholars by pointing out famous and popular statistical software and in the questionnaires. The sample of 40 research scholars has been selected from the 3 universities of Hyderabad city of India. The study is a quantitative research study through the survey method by providing a list of questionnaire. The study concluded that majority of research scholar uses SPSS software from among the most popular statistical software. It has also concluded that the decision to select particular statistical software and the tools to exercise over it in the data analysis has influence by the others’ suggestion that perhaps from their research supervisor.
